Why it belongs on the list

Field highlights

  • Run by two local sisters who featured in ABC TV’s Back Roads - watch the Coober Pedy episode
  • Started near the corner of Paxton & Wright Roads, then moved to an underground restaurant down the little alley off Trow St
  • Remembered for great coffee, pies and pastries

CK Confectionaire was a beloved local bakery-café. It began near the corner of Paxton and Wright Roads before moving to a characterful underground restaurant down the little alley off Trow Street. Run by two sisters who were memorably featured in the ABC’s Back Roads episode on Coober Pedy, it’s since closed - but it earned its place in the town’s story, so we keep this page for the record.
