Got a single day? Here’s how to make the most of it.

Morning

• Start at Umoona Opal Mine & Museum (opens 8:30am)
  • the free museum and walk-through mine are the perfect orientation. Take the 10am tour.
• Wander Hutchison Street and browse the opal shops.

Lunch

• Grab a famous Coat of Arms pizza at John’s Pizza Bar, or an all-day feed at the Outback Bar & Grill.

Afternoon

• Go underground at an underground church and a show home like Faye’s Underground Home.
• Try your luck noodling for opal at the public noodling area - great for kids, and you keep what you find.

Sunset & evening

• Drive out to the Kanku-Breakaways for sunset (grab a park pass from the Visitor Centre first) - the colours are unforgettable.
• Back in town, dinner and a drink, then look up: the outback night sky is spectacular.
